Founder and Director of Chinese Autism Community Interest Company
AuDHDer, community founder and inclusion advocate reshaping culturally informed neurodiversity support for Chinese communities across the UK.
About Hazel Lim
Hazel Lim is an AuDHDer, and Founder and Director of Chinese Autism Community Interest Company (CACIC), a UK wide organisation addressing barriers to inclusion, access, and understanding for neurodivergent individuals and families within the Chinese community.
Her work brings together lived experience, cultural insight, and cross sector influence to challenge stigma, language barriers, and structural inequities that prevent communities from being fully understood, included, and empowered. Through CACIC, Hazel develops culturally informed approaches to advocacy, education, and service design, working creatively and authentically to reshape how organisations engage with diverse neurodivergent communities.
Based in Swansea, Hazel began this work through grassroots, community led initiatives, later growing it into a national movement through CACIC. She also developed the UK’s first English and Chinese bilingual autism resource, improving understanding across health, education, and community settings. Her work has reached international audiences and has been recognised with the Prime Minister’s Point of Light Award and multiple community honours, reflecting the genuine and sustained impact of her voluntary contribution.
Hazel brings a deeply community rooted perspective to her work, grounded in equity, collaboration, and the belief that inclusion must be designed with, not for, the communities it serves. She is particularly passionate about creating positive change for children and young people, ensuring the next generation are able to recognise, embrace, and value their identities, and feel empowered in who they are.
“A neuro-affirming approach with cultural competency is the way forward.”
